Exploring a run for Governor
June 2, 2025
After Governor Reynolds’ announcement that she would not seek reelection, I received a number of calls and messages encouraging me to consider the race, including from Governor Branstad. Since then, I’ve been honored to hear from so many Iowans around the state asking me to give it a look and I am doing so.
You have been a strong supporter of me during my runs for State House and State Senate, so I wanted to make sure you heard from me personally that this is something I’m considering. If I move forward with a campaign for Governor it will be focused on the issues we all know are critical to the future of our state: Bringing manufacturing jobs back to Iowa, new markets for our agricultural products, better educational opportunities, safe communities, and a lower cost of living. I’ve fought hard for those issues in the Legislature and will do so again in a potential gubernatorial campaign. Should I end up running for Governor, I hope I will continue to have your support.
In the coming weeks, I will continue to talk to Iowans from all corners of the state, gathering their input on what a campaign should look like and focus on. I’ve connected with many of you already and would love to hear any additional thoughts you would like to share. As I move forward in this process, I will be sure to keep you informed.
Thank you and God bless the great state of Iowa!
